Melbourne: Prime Minister Scott Morrison hinted on Tuesday that he is open to the plan of shifting Australia’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, acknowledging the holy city as the capital of Israel.

While talking about moving the embassy, the PM Morrison said that he is quite “open-minded” while claiming that he continues to be committed to a two-state solution.

In a controversial move, when the US President Donald Trump said that the United States would recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Australian PM’s statement came after 10 months.

Notwithstanding the persuasive protests by Palestinians about the decision, the new US embassy in Jerusalem was inaugurated in May.

Also the PM of Australia, Morrison announced that this week Australia would not vote in the favour of the United Nations resolution to recognize the Palestinian Authority as the chair of the Group of 77 developing countries.
