Delhi High court has convicted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and sentenced to life in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case on charges of criminal conspiracy, an extension of enmity, anti-communal views, after cancelling his acquittal from a lower court.

He has been fined for Rs. 5 Lakhs but there is still hope pending for the victims, whose family members were killed in this riots.

In a press statement issued here from party head office, Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) president and Lok Sabha MP from Khadoor Sahib constituency, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura has applauded the Delhi High Court’s decision for 1984 Sikh riots.

Brahmpura added in his statement that after 34 years the victims of the 1984 massacre, now seeing the ray of hope for justice and Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been given life imprisonment but such culprits must be hanged till death so that it can be a lesson for unscrupulous elements who have been enjoying political patronage.

He further added that the wounds of 1984 Sikh carnage will remain afresh in the psyche of every Sikh and the community will never forgive to such culprits for hatching the conspiracy of this dastardly act, who burnt them alive.
