Chandigarh, July 2: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday released a Punjabi book titled ‘Alharh Umran Talakh Sunehe’, penned by the IPS Officer Gurpreet Singh Toor, based on his experiences with drug addicts.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the book was based on Toor’s personal experience and interactions especially with the youth involved in drug cases during his various field postings in the Police Department.

On the occasion, Toor, currently posted as AIG (Counter Intelligence) at Ludhiana, briefed the Chief Minister about his book which primarily focuses on his personal interactions with drug addicts and their families, besides visits to the vulnerable areas, jail premises and de-addiction centres to have an inside view of the problem. Toor said that he had written this book with the objective of creating awareness against drug abuse.

Lauding the unique initiative of the Senior Police Officer, the Chief Minister hoped that the book would inspire the youth who had fallen prey to drugs to lead normal life with self-respect and dignity.
