-SPORTS MINISTER RANA SODHI CONGRATULATES DAMNEET ON SHINING ACHIEVEMENT

Chandigarh: Barnala athlete Damneet Singh Mann has brought laurels to the town state of Punjab and the country. In the 18th Junior Asian Athletics Championship underway at Gifu in Japan, Damneet Singh Mann has bagged Silver medal in the Hammer Throw event with a throw of 74.06 meters. In the same event, the Gold medal was also won by India with Ashish Jakhar bagging the coveted medal with a throw of 76.86 meters. 

The Sports Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has congratulated Damneet Singh Mann on this shining achievement. The minister while also congratulating Ashish Jakhar said that it is a matter of great pride for the nation to have bagged first 2 positions in its kitty. Also congratulating the Coach of Damneet-Dr. Sukhraj Singh who is with him in Japan, the minister said that the credit of this crowning glory also goes in large measure to the coach and the parents of Damneet. The minister expressed strong hope that the athlete would also win acclaim for India in Senior category at international level. 

It is worth mentioning that Damneet who has just passed his senior secondary (+2) exam from Government Senior Secondary School, Sandhu Patti, Barnala, had also won Silver medal in the same event in Junior World Championship at Nairobi in Kenya last year. His father Mr. Baldev Singh Mann is also a reputed athlete of yore.
