Embarking on the dream road towards automation, for the first time, India has launched a humanoid RoboCop in Kerala.

The humanoid robot cop has been named ‘KP-Bot’ who is capable of working alongside humans.

It has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijayan and he welcomed the Sub-Inspactpor ranked RoboCop with an honorary salute and the ‘RoboCop’ responded with a perfect salute too.

KP-Bot will be deployed at the front office of the Kerala Police Headquarters in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram.

In-charge of cyberdome and Assistant Deputy of police, Manoj Abraham revealed that the first robot inducted into the force is a woman.

Loknath Behra, the Director General of police said,”Women empowerment and gender equality were kept in mind while deciding on the gender of the first robot. Also, the fact that most front office jobs are managed by women was considered”.

The major duties of the robot cop will include gathering information of visitors, recording their complaints, issuing visitors ID and setting up case file on complaint or petition by the visitor.

There are plans to update the RoboCop with additional features like face recognition, gas sensors, thermal imaging and explosive detection.
