Lombok: A six-month jail term has been slapped to an Indonesian woman, Baiq Nuril Maknun who exposed her cheating boss.

Earlier decision of the court where the woman was cleared of breaking a controversial law against spreading indecent material was overturned by the Supreme Court’s shocking ruling.

In reaction to the SC’s ruling issued last week, on Friday, Maknun’s husband Lalu Muhamad Isnaini said, “I’m saddened and shocked by this sentence.”

The out of the ordinary case dated back to 2012 when a conversation was recorded by Maknun in which the school Principal where she worked on Lombok Island revealed graphic sexual information about an affair he was having with another colleague.

Rejecting the repeated advances by the Principal, the co-workers of the school administrator convinced Maknun to release the recording in an attempt to expose the history of man’s lecherous behavior, as per her lawyer Joko Jumadi.

Joko, in a local newspaper, told, “The principal shared very graphic details about his affair with the school’s treasurer in the recording.”

Maknun was later fired by the Principal and filed a complaint with board.

Initially, the local court in Lombok cleared off the charges against Maknun.

But, the top court of Indonesia on Friday reversed that decision sentencing her six months in jail along with a fine of 500 million rupiah ($34,000) for violating the electronic information law.

Taking to local reporters, the 36-year-old Maknun asserted that the ruling was unfair and the court did not give the reasons behind the verdict.
