The domestic stock market started on a red note on Monday with mixed cues from Asian markets.

At 11:01 am, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 97.17 points or 0.35% to trade at 36,099.51. The broader Nifty50 was at 10,873.10, down with 57.35 points or 0.52%.

As per the analysts, heavy selling pressure was observed in banking, financial and auto stocks.

In morning trade session, nineteen out of 30 Sensex stocks were trading in the red.

Main losers in the 30-share Sensex pack in the morning trade were Adani Ports, Maruti, Tata Steel, Induslnd Bank and Yes Bank. The top laggards in the Nifty50 pack were Kotak Bank, Yes Bank, IndiaBulls Housing Finance, Induslnd Bank and ZEEL.

On the contrary, prominent gainers in the Sensex pack in the morning session were ITC, Infosys, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Asian Paints. Top gainers on Nifty were ONGC, NTPC, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance and Bharti Airtel.

Meanwhile, the benchmark equity indices closed lower on Friday.

The S&P BSE Sensex closed low at 36,227.14, down 97.03 points or 0.27%. The Nifty50 declined 47.10 points or 0.43% to settle at 10,930.45.
