New York: A 22-year-old Indian-origin man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl through social media in the United States.
According to the authorities, Sachin Aji Bhaskar, a resident of Buffalo City in New York, has been punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 10 years or more.
Also, a $ 250,000 fine has been imposed.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Wei Xiang said on Tuesday that Bhaskar contacted an 11-year-old girl living in Buffalo using a social media app in August, claiming herself to be 15-year-old.
Bhaskar picked up the girl from her house and left her home after three hours of establishing physical relations with her.
22-year-old Bhaskar was initially produced before US Magistrate Justice Kenneth Schroder and is being held pending a detention hearing.
The criminal complaint has been registered as a result of the sexual assault investigation by the FBI’s (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Child Exploitation Task Force.
