Captain Amarinder’s own coterie have become ‘mafia lords’, the mafia that Captain had promised to wipe away

Yet another proof that corruption is rampant under the rule of Captain Amarinder: Jarnail Singh

Demands immediate resignation of Balbir Sidhu for his brother’s involvement in such corrupt practices

Jalandhar :The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had been raising voice against the ill-practices and misconducts carried out by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his ministers, time and again. However, from illegal factories, mining, land, transportation, to illicit liquor and drug trade, Captain Amarinder Singh and his Congress minister were looting Punjab at the hands of all kinds of ‘mafias’. Addressing the media, during a press conference convened here on Thursday, AAP Punjab incharge and MLA from Delhi Jarnail Singh said that the party had raised the issue multiple times that Captain Amarinder Singh and his coterie were involved in giving a boost to the land mafia and were promoting it.

He said that the recent court documents suggest that the brothers of Captain’s ministers were themselves the ‘mafia lords’ of the land mafia nexus. Jarnail Singh said that a recent High Court judgement shows the sort of malpractice that minister Balbir Sidhu’s brother Amarjeet Singh Sidhu alias Jeeti was involved in. “The land that was allotted by the government to the panchayat was grabbed illegally by the company Lanchester Infrastructure Associates, a company in which Balbir Singh Sidhu’s brother Amarjeet Singh Sidhu is a partner,” he added. He said that according to the court documents, the government had allotted a piece of land to the Panchayat of Manakpur Kalar village in Mohali.

“This land was a high priced land whose worth was very high. Balbir Singh Sidhu misused his ministerial powers to forcefully pass a resolution in the Panchayat which allowed the company Lanchester Infrastructure Associates, involving his brother, to exchange their land with the land allotted to the Panchayat by the government,” said Jarnail Singh. He further said that the land that was exchanged was of a significantly low value. “Exchanging this land with a high worth land amounts to nothing but pure corruption,” he added.

Lashing out at Captain Amarinder Singh and his ministers, Jarnail Singh said that this was yet another proof that corruption was rampant under the rule of Captain Amarinder Singh in the state. Demanding immediate resignation of Balbir Sidhu for his brother’s involvement in such corrupt practices, he said, “This has proved the fact that Balbir Singh Sidhu and his brother are themselves the ‘mafia lords’ of the land mafia nexus in the state; the mafia which Captain Amarinder Singh had promised to wipe out when he came to power.” He further said that under the patronage of Captain Amarinder Singh, his ministers and cronies were running and promoting ‘mafias’ in Punjab.

The AAP leader further said that it was surprising as to why Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was silent over such blatant plunders of the state’s wealth. “Captain Saheb, you have never left a chance to prove that you have failed as a CM. If you can’t control your own coterie, how will you manage the entire state? You have proven that you are not only unable but are also unwilling to improve the condition of the state,” said Jarnail Singh. He said that Captain Amarinder had betrayed the people of Punjab and on February 14, the people will show him the result and will give a befitting reply to all his malpractices.
