The seventh round of talks between the protestingfarmers and the Centre began here on Monday afternoon.

Ahead of the talks, farmer leaders have made clear their intentions.

The farmers are hoping that the government should concede to their demands during the talks.

Today’s meeting is expected to yield “some outcome on the demand for a law on MSP”, which is believed to be the first agenda on the meeting, after paying tributes to farmers who have lost their lives during the course of the agitation so far.

Farmers are demanding a guaranteed MSP on 23 crops so that they can “diversify” from paddy and wheat.

“But from my understanding of the situation, it is unlikely that the government’s representatives will agree to our demands so easily,” farmer leader Darshan Pal said before proceeding to Vigyan Bhawan for the seventh round of meeting.
