Indian-American educator and community leader Pia Dandiya has secured the Democratic nomination for the US House of Representatives from Florida’s newly configured 22nd Congressional District.

Florida’s unofficial election-night results showed Dandiya receiving 26,053 votes, or 68.57%, while her opponent, Kaysia Earley, received 11,940 votes, or 31.43%.

Dandiya, the daughter of immigrants from India, has worked as a teacher, school principal, policy professional and technology-sector executive. Her nomination adds to the increasing participation of Indian Americans in US electoral politics.

She is expected to face Republican nominee Casey Askar in the general election scheduled for November 3, 2026.

The August result represents a party nomination, not election to Congress. The figures were listed as unofficial election-night returns and remain subject to the normal certification process.
