Newsdesk – Strong earthquake of 6.9 magnitute hits southeastern part of Taiwan, a densely populated area, on Sunday.

The train carriages were derailed, causing a convenience store to collapse and trapping of hundreds of mountain roads.

The weather bureau in a starement said the epicentre was in Taitung country and followed a 6.4 magnitude temblor on Saturday in same are causing no casualities.

The US Geographical survey measured Sunday quake at a magnitude 7.2 and at the depth of 10 miles. Taiwan fire department reports all four people who got struck inside the collapsed building in Yuli are rescued.

The Taiwan Railways administration said six carriages came off the track at Dongli station at eastern Taiwan after a part of the platform canopy collapsed but there were no injuries reported, rail department added.

More than 600 people are reported to struck on scenic Chike and Liushishi mountain areas by blocked roads , no injuries reported and rescuers are working on to clear and reopen the doors.
