Washington: Due to non-payment of funds to President Donald Trump to build a wall on the border of Mexico, the US government begins a Christmas time shut-down.
According to officials, the shutdown may last till New Year.
The President said, “8 lakh employees will not get their salary. They will have to go on holiday right before Christmas or work without pay.”
These conditions have come up because Trump had a demand for $5 billion for construction of a wall on the US Border with Mexico.
The Congress had gone down on the government because of the confrontation between the Republicans and the Democrats on the issue of migrants.
The work of several important agencies was stopped due to lack of budget.
Despite last-minute talks between White House officials and congressional leaders in both parties on Capitol Hill, there has been no agreement on the funding.
Funding for nearly three-quarters of the government, including the Department of Health and Human Services and military, is fully funded until the end of September 2019.
Funds could not be managed for only 25% of the departments.
During this shutdown, some NASA employees will be discharged on vacation.
Employees from business, agriculture, security, justice, home and the Ministry of External Affairs will also be sent on leave.
