Special drive against shops indulging in black marketing to continue : Uppal
Chandigarh May 21 : In a bid to check black marketing and hoarding of essential items, state Vigilance Bureau today arrested three shopkeepers for selling sanitizers and masks at overpriced rates to the public.
Disclosing this here today, Chief Director-cum-ADGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab, B.K. Uppal said a special drive had already been launched by the Bureau in the state during COVID-19 pandemic to ensure proper supply of sanitizers and masks to general public at Government approved rates. “This drive will continue unabated and all such culprits indulging in black marketing and hoarding will be brought to book”, he added.

VB Chief informed that on the complaints received from the public in the border belt, VB Range Amritsar during this drive has arrested Sunil Dogra, proprietor of Dogra Medicos Gumtala Road, Amritsar and Dinesh Kumar (License Holder) Pawan Kumar (Proprietor) of Naveen Medicos, Rattan Singh Chowk Amritsar for charging overpriced rates of sanitizers.

He added that in this case two FIRs u/s 420/188 IPC and section 7 of Essential Commodities Act 1955 have been registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar against the shopkeepers Sunil Dogra, Dinesh Kumar and Pawan Kumar. Further investigations are under progress.
