Stepping towards realising the dream of roof for all in the state, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department has completed the construction of 176 EWS houses in Patiala District. These houses would be given to houseless SC/BC families under Punjab Shehri Awas Yojana.

Divulging the details, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that 176 EWS houses have been constructed at Hajimajra village in Patiala and the houses would soon be handed over to the beneficiaries.
This project is situated on the main junction of Sangrur-Patiala highway and Samana road, said the Minister, adding that Patiala Development Authority (PDA) had entrusted to construct 176 (G+3) EWS dwelling units on 1.69 acres land and carpet area of one dwelling unit is 25.25 sqm. The construction cost of one dwelling unit is Rs. 4.10 lakh and the total cost of construction amounts approximately to Rs.7 crore, he added.

He said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government was fully committed to fulfill basic needs of people especially deprived sections of the society. H&UD Minister said that under this project 124 beneficiaries have been identified by the District Administration strictly as per the guidelines of policy. PDA would soon allot the houses to the 124 identified beneficiaries. Agenda to sale the remaining 52 houses in open auction has been recommended by State level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC) to Central Monitoring and Sanctioning Committee (CMSC) for seeking approval from Government of India.
