Difficulties being faced by the people and the farmers who are struggling for their rights may increase due to non operation of the freight trains. While the power crisis is also looming due to disturbed supply of the coal, the procurement of paddy has been affected due to shortage of gunny bags. As per the information from the sources 22.05 crore gunny bags were lying in Delhi and Muradabad due to non-operation of the freight trains. At the same time due to non-availability of raw materials the industrial sector is also being affected and the economic situation in the state may worsen.

Elaborating further, Sadhu Ram Bhatmajra, President, District Aarhti Association said that due to the attitude of the Center, the gunny bags were not reaching Punjab and the farmers facing trouble. Gulshan Rai Bobby, Chairman, Market Committee, Sirhind, said that the attitude adopted by the Center amid the struggle of the farmers is reprehensible and never happened before in the country. The farmers of Punjab have exhausted their resources to replenish the food grains of the country and today when it comes to farmers’ rights, the Union government has resorted to depraved politics. The major issue is that even after the evacuation of railway tracks by the farmers’ organizations for the transportation of essential commodities during the farmers’ agitation, the movement of freight trains in Punjab has been stopped by the Center.
Balwinder Singh Mavi, Vice Chairman, Market Committee, Sirhind, said that the economy of the country was linked to the farmers and if the farmers were in loss then the economy of the country would go into worst phase. He also said that it would affect not only Punjab but the entire country.
