The Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach, Bureau Chandigarh, today, organised a webinar on the topic “Clean India-Swachh Bharat” with Sh. Bhagwan Dass, Block Development Officer, Barwala, Hisar and Sh. Jasbir Singh, City Team Leader, Municipal Corporation, Hisar as the speakers.

In a gripping conversation, Sh. Bhagwan Dass, Block Development Officer, Barwala, Hisar explained how in order to ensure that the open defecation free behaviours are sustained, and that solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible, he has spearheaded the efforts to spread awareness about sanitation and waste management in the Barwala Block of District Hisar in coordination with PRIs & Rural Sanitaion Committees. He informed that his team has been doing this through ‘Prabhat Pheris’, one on one meets, awareness programs and cultural events.

Sh. Jasbir Singh, City Team Leader, Municipal Corporation, Hisar explained the different types of plastics and how these plastics are deteriorating our environment. He also explained that burning of plastics releases toxic gases like dioxins, furans, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (better known as BCPs) into the atmosphere, which pose a threat to vegetation, and human and animal health. Thus, he made an appeal to all the participants to give up this method of plastic waste disposal and also limit their usage of plastics.
Sh. Harshit Narang, Asst. Director, PIB, Chandigarh gave the welcome address while Ms. Sapna, Assistant Director, ROB Chandigarh moderated the session and Sh. Daulat Ram, Incharge, FOB Hisar proposed the vote of thanks to all present in the webinar.
