Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Ministerial Candidate and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann, while welcoming Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s decision to contest from Bhadaur Assembly constituency, claimed that ‘Bhadaur’s son'(Labh Singh Ugoke) will win from Bhadaur. Mann was addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said that the National Convener of AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had given compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre to the farmers of Delhi for the loss of their crops due to unseasonal rains. Same will be implemented by the AAP government in Punjab.
Regarding the decision of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to contest from Chamkaur Sahib as well as Bhadaur constituency, Bhagwant Mann said, “Halqa Bhadaur falls under my Lok Sabha constituency Sangrur so, I welcome to acting CM Charanjit Singh Channi here. But the decision of the Congress shows that either Congress is perturbed or Chief Minister Channi is definitely losing the Chamkaur Sahib seat.”
Describing the political performance of Bhadaur Assembly constituency, Bhagwant Mann said that the people of Bhadaur constituency are revolutionary people and they never care about the Chief Minister and the bureaucracy. He added that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the people of this constituency had made Aam Aadmi Party winner with a huge margin.
While in the 2017 also the AAP candidate won the election and the team of Labh Singh Ugoke and other workers had done a tremendous job in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, due to which the AAP got a big lead from Bhadaur. Mann said that the people of Bhadaur constituency have decided that the winner will be Bhadaur’s son Labh Singh Ugoke, because Labh Singh Ugoke is a resident of Bhadaur constituency and he is a member of Aam Aadmi Party, so it doesn’t matter if Congress’s acting CM is contesting from here too.
He said that Labh Singh Ugoke has a clear image whereas; news about Rs. 10 crore seized by the ED from the relatives of Chief Minister Channi has reached the people of Bhadaur. Bhagwant Mann claimed that even if he got bail in ED raids case, Charanjit Singh Channi would lose his security deposit in the constituency of Bhadaur.
Bhagwant Mann claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party is the well-wisher of farmers, labourers, students and the common people, citing the example of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal he said that cheques of compensation Rs. 20,000 per acre ware given to the farmers of Delhi.
He said that AAP government would also compensate the farmers in Punjab, so that they won’t have to bear any losses due to crop damage. He added that the compensation would be given to farmers even before inspection to save farmers from any kind of trouble.
