Chandigarh: Assuring key focus on the transparency factor, Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak on Tuesday assumed charge as the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Forests and Wildlife Preservation Minister in his office at the Punjab Civil Secretariat-1 amid the presence of School Education, Higher Education and Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, MLA from Batala Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, MLA from Nihalsingh Wala Manjit Bilaspur, MLA from Rupnagar Dinesh chaddha, and MLA from Mehal Kalan Kulwant Pandori.
Interacting with the mediapersons on the occasion, the Minister expressed gratitude to the party leadership especially the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for reposing faith in him. He also said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has received an unprecedented mandate from the common masses hence it would leave no stone unturned to come up to the expectations of the people.
The Minister further pointed out that he would soon conduct a meeting to get a feedback regarding all the three departments whose functioning would be reviewed at regular intervals. ” There would be zero tolerance towards the corrupt practices”, added Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak. Getting into the action mode on Day 1 itself, the Minister also presided over a meeting of the Food Supplies department at Anaj Mandi in Sector-39 in which he exhorted the all the Deputy Directors and DFSCs to pull out all stops for ensuring the success of upcoming Wheat procurement season.
He also asked all present to work as a Team and discharge their duties diligently as honesty and efficiency would be the yardsticks to measure the performance of the officers. Likewise, the Minister emphasized that people belonging to the poor sections of the society should be served above the rest. Among others present in the meeting included the Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Gurkirat Kirpal Singh and the Director Abhinav Trikha.
