Delhi – The ongoing Russia- Ukraine war could effect in the supplies of S-400 squadrons missiles that is linked with a contract (MoU) signed between India and Russia in 2018.
However, Indian Airforce received first delivery of S-400 squadrons in thousands of containers by sea and air routes in December. It is five in all consignments of S-400 squadrons , Russia has to deliver to India at the interval of six months each. The Defense Ministry said the second delivery of S-400 squadron should be in the month of June but it could be delayed due to war.
Russia has begun transporting simulators and other training equipments to India for ‘training squadrons’ and the IAF got first delivery of equipment six months ago.
The first S-400 squadron is installed in Punjab to cater the western front with Pakistan and also to safequard Ambala Airbase as it is one of the sensitive zone due to new Rafale fighter jets based here.
The remaining four Squadrons would be deployed and positioned to safequard aerial threats from both Pakistan and China before entering in Indian Airspace zone. The highly automated S-400 squadron can track , detect and destroy hostile missiles , jets and spy planes, bombers and drones at a range of 380 km.
Meanwhile , At the recent two plus two dialogue held in Washington, the United States administration is yet to take decision if the sanctions should be put on India or not for the purchase of S-400 Squadron under CAATSA ( Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act). Earlier , America has slapped sanctions on Turkey and China for the same reason.
