CHANDIGARH: The Congress party today organized Satyagraha to protest against the repeated victimization and harassment of the party president Ms Sonia Gandhi, who was made to appear before the Enforcement Directorate today for the second time. Thousands of party workers and leaders participated in the Satyagraha.

Leading the Satyagraha, the PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said, this was unprecedented in the history of democratic India that the ruling party was not only trying to stifle the voice of opposition, but wanted to completely finish it off. “The BJP leaders have been saying quite often that they want Congress-mukt Bharat, which is an authoritarian thinking”, he said, while asserting that no matter how much they try, Congress will emerge stronger.

He said, Congress party has strong ideological fundamentals and it has made immense contributions and sacrifices, first during the independence struggle and then in post-independent India. He pointed out, earlier Rahul Gandhi was questioned for five days, for as long as 12 to 15 hours every day, and now the ED was repeatedly summoning Ms Gandhi with clear aim of harassment as they knew nothing was to come out of it as nothing had happened.

The PCC president also lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab which, he said, was following the same script like that of the BJP at the centre. He pointed out how the AAP government in Punjab had started targeting political opponents on the pretext of fake and bogus complaints.

Speaking on the occasion, the Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa said, it is unfortunate that the BJP government was misusing various agencies to settle scores with political opponents. He said, political battles should be fought politically.

He congratulated party leaders and workers for the show of strength with unity and discipline. He said, no force can browbeat the Congress party or its workers as long as they remained united. He assured the party workers that the party will always stand by them come what may.

Among those present on the occasion included PCC working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Gurkirat Kotli, Capt. Sandeep Sandhu, Kuljit Nagra, Dalvir Goldy, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, Pragat Singh, Sanjay Talwar, Rani Balvir Sodhi, Gurpreet GP, Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Davinder Singh Ghubaya, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Gurkirat Singh, Lakhveer Singh Lakha, Rajinder Beri, Vikramjit Chaudhary, Kushaldeep Dhillon Vikram Bajwa, Avtar Henry Bawa, Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, Sukhwinder Kotli, Sukhpal Bhullar, Darshan Mangupur, Dharambir Agnihotri, Kuldeep Vaid, Navtej Cheema and Mohit Mohindra.
