Entire organisational structure to be revamped
Delhi: The newly-appointed All India Kisan Congress chairman Sukhpal Khaira today expressed serious concern at the plight of farmers in the country and vowed to dedicate himself to fight for the cause of farmers and farm workers.
Addressing all-India office-bearers after a two-day workshop at the AICC office here, Khaira fired the Modi government for failing to resolve farmers’ problems. He said he would undertake a country- wide tour soon to meet farmers in different states to understand their problems.
He complimented his outgoing predecessor Nana Patole and his team for their outstanding contribution in waging a struggle for farmers’ cause. He said all those who worked hard would be duly rewarded in the organization.
He said soon the all-India structure of Kisan Congress would be revamped to add more energy and vigour to the organization. Khaira demanded that the Centre must guarantee MSP for all crops and stop favouring the corporate sector at the cost of farmers and farm workers.
He said farmers in Himachal Pradesh are facing problems with apple crop, more than 20 lakh acres of land is waterlogged in Telengana, UP farmers have not got adequate sugarcane crop remuneration, in Punjab polluted water of distilleries has been a major worry for farmers. The Kisan Congress would fight for all such issues across the country, Khaira added.
