Vigilance to enquire fraud committed in allotting labour, transport tenders to contractors
Chandigarh : The SBS Nagar court on Tuesday has remanded former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu to the police custody till October 14 on the plea of Punjab Vigilance Bureau to further probe into the allegations regarding fraud committed in allotment of labour cartage and transport tenders for grain markets to the contractors in conniving with concerned officers/employees of the Food and Civil Supplies department as well as procurement agencies in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar.
Disclosing this here today, the spokesperson of the VB said the Bureau after investigating a big scam in labour and transportation tenders in grain markets of SBB Nagar, has registered a case no. 18 on 22-09-2022 against the accused contractors Telu Ram, Yashpal and Ajaypal (Both brothers) of village Udhanwal, Tehsil Balachore under section 420, 409, 467, 468, 471, 120-B and section 7, 8, 12, 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station VB, Jalandhar.
Revealing more he stated that main accused Telu Ram contractor informed the VB that he have facilitated meeting of Yashpal and Ajaypal, both brothers, of his village, with the DFSC Rakesh Bhaskar who also later got the tenders through former minister Ashu. Telu Ram had made many entries and calculations in a blue pocket diary, which had already been confiscated by the VB. In this way the VB has involved the above mentioned accused in this case.
He informed that during the investigation, the common links of all the above mentioned accused have been established thereby the accused former minister was included in the trial and a production warrant was obtained from the competent court. During the police remand, the said minister would be interrogated regarding the corruption committed during his ministerial tenure and important revelations are expected.
