It was a deadly attack in Sweden’s Orebro, around 125 miles west of Stockholm. Risbergska School was running its usual business of teaching elder students who were unable to complete their formal education or were aspiring for getting required grades to continue higher studies.
The campus also has other educational institutes running in it.
Suddenly, roar sounds of gunshots hit the ears. Teachers and students started running out or confined themselves inside.
Social media videos show students hiding under tables. Another video possibly shot in balcony depicts the sound of gunshots. An undeclared battle by unknown ( till 4.37 pm ET) left the city shaken. According to local police, at least 10 people were feared killed.
“We know that 10 or so people have been killed here today. The reason that we can’t be more exact currently is that the extent of the incident is so large,” said local police chief Roberto Eid Forest in a statement to reporters.
Police also believed that the gunman acted alone. Roberto asserted that the face of assailant was unfamiliar to the local police and they are working with intelligence agencies to trace more details.
“We’re working with secret services but as far as I know, it’s a person unknown to police,” said Forest, when asked if the perpetrator lived in Orebro.
Forest added that he “can’t say anything about the kind of weapon” that was used “other than it was a firearm”.
Officers refuted the motive of terror behind the attack but cautioned that much remained unknown.
