Sewa International USA has launched a fundraising and relief campaign to assist families affected by the Spokane Valley wildfires in Washington state.
During the first phase of the programme, the Indian-American charitable organization plans to provide 100 mattresses, together with pillows and blankets, to 100 Native American tribal families. Volunteers will distribute the bedding to families whose homes and daily lives were disrupted by the fires.
The organization has established a fundraising target of $50,000. It says the initial distribution is intended to meet immediate household needs while affected residents begin the longer process of recovery and rebuilding.
The initiative is not restricted to people of Indian origin. It demonstrates the participation of an Indian-American volunteer organization in broader disaster-response and humanitarian work within the United States.
The fundraising total displayed on the campaign page may change as new donations are received. Contributors should consult the official page for the latest amount and donation information.
