KYIV — Kyiv and its surrounding region have faced Russian drone attacks for a fifth consecutive day, disrupting transportation, damaging civilian property and forcing residents to spend extended periods inside shelters.
Ukrainian officials said four people were injured during Monday’s attacks. A residential building, warehouses and a retail property were among the structures damaged in the Kyiv region. Other attacks were reported in Odesa and Kryvyi Rih, where economic and logistical facilities were targeted.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched approximately 1,500 drones over four days, more than half of them jet-powered models capable of travelling faster than conventional propeller-driven drones. The figure comes from Ukrainian authorities and has not been independently verified.
Ukraine has responded with attacks against facilities inside Russia, including logistics and energy infrastructure. Moscow maintains that it targets sites supporting Ukraine’s military operations.
Why it matters: The sustained campaign appears intended to exhaust Ukraine’s air-defence systems, disrupt its supply networks and place continuous psychological pressure on civilians.
