Drugs nearly $3 million worth and other property, including a semi, has been seized by the Winnipeg police with the help of RCMP and other western Canadian police forces.
The police say they have disrupted a key criminal network across the western area that stemmed the flow of drugs into the city.
After about 10-months investigation, the police have resulted in arresting 10 people including three women and three men in Winnipeg.
A total of 10 people are arrested who are facing 156 charges after search warrants were executed on 18 October.
All the accused are facing multiple drug trafficking and other possession charges:
- Daniel Jason Finkbeiner, 30, of Winnipeg.
- Amanda Marie Borges, 27, of Winnipeg.
- Darci Ann Geiger, 33, of Winnipeg.
- Mohammad Shakil Khan, 39, of Vancouver.
- Allan Ronald Rodney, 70, of Surrey, B.C.
- Herbert Mejia-Orellana-Delgado, 29, of Edmonton.
- Mason Joaquin Burg, 24, of Winnipeg.
- Lisa Dawn Hallson 32, of Winnipeg.
- William Junior Fuller, 22, of Winnipeg.
- Shontal Vaupotic, 32, of Surrey, B.C.
In Manitoba single-handedly, 11 kilograms of cocaine, three kilograms of methamphetamine, two kilograms of ketamine and 170 grams of heroin were seized.
Also, property and weapons along with $404,500 worth of vehicles, $121,000 in cash and a Walther P99 9-mm semi-automatic handgun and ammunition were seized in Manitoba by the police.
Vehicles, cash and drugs were seized in Alberta and Saskatchewan, while in B.C., vehicles and cash were seized.
The joint value of drugs, cash and property seized across the four western provinces is estimated to be $2.7 million.
Manitoba RCMP assistant commissioner Scott Kolody said that the police have “no doubt” that this investigation will have a significant impact on the supply of drugs into Winnipeg and the rest of Manitoba.
