New Delhi: Union Home Ministry approved the formation of Village Defense Groups in Jammu and Kashmir today. The members of the Village Defense Group will be designated as Village Defense Guards. VDG will be paid Rs. Other persons (V2 category) who are members of this VDG on voluntary basis will be paid Rs.4000/- per month at the same rate.
VDG will work under the direction of the SP/SSP of the district concerned. BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir had demanded the reorganization of Village Defense Committee from Home Minister Amit Shah. After that Ministry of Home Affairs directed the formation of a village defense group in Jammu and Kashmir.
