The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will bring in some new subjects like artificial intelligence, early childhood care education and yoga in its educational programs from the 2019-2020 scholarly session, peruses a circular recently issued by the board.
“The choice to present artificial intelligence as an ability subject was taken at an ongoing meeting of the board’s governing body. It was decided that the subject would be obtainable from classes 8, 9 and 10 as a skill subject ,” an member from the board’s administering body said adding that it would be the optional sixth subject.
The circular reads, “Artificial intelligence in the past few years has gained geo-strategic importance and many countries are striving hard to stay ahead with their policy initiatives to get their nation ready.”
Artificial intelligence is the capacity of a machine to think, learn and perform errands, for example, visual discernment, discourse acknowledgment and basic leadership aptitudes and is being widely recognized as the power that will fuel the future global digital economy.
Over the last few decades, there has been an expansion in the popularity of yoga and early childhood education.
Early childhood education will encourage children of nursery and kindergarten classes “happy education”, while yoga will educate a method for living that point towards healthy mind in a healthy body, the circular reads.
Some reports anticipated that considering the demand of schools for the huge requirement of early childhood educators and yoga professionals, the board has decided to present the skill subjects as an elective subject at senior secondary level from this session.
At secondary level, a skill subject might be offered as extra 6th subject alongside the current five necessary subjects.
If any student fails in any of the three elective subjects (for example; science, mathematics and sociology), at that point it will be replaced by the skill subject (offered as a sixth subject) and result of Class X will be computed on the basis of best five subjects.
On the other hand, if a candidate wants to return in the failed subject, he/she may appear along with the compartment examination.
In the same way, at senior secondary level, the board would acknowledge, if a school offers at least one or more skill based subject as elective subject out of the 42 subjects.
