(Boney Bindra) As I was growing up, I and my family used to spend most of the last days of every year’s end away from home at some hill station. The tradition changed somewhat and my parents started to go on holidays without me.

When I was alone there was only one companion I had, witness to my flaws and my new year partner was our television. As the whole world was dropping the ball, I used to stay in my cosy blanket and watch TV till 1 in the morning.

1 In the morning precisely because this was the time when most of the Hollywood movies dubbed in Hindi used to end on various channels.

For the stretch of five to six years, my parents were not there on new years and I watched the same movies on every 31st December, which takes me to the nostalgic trip every time when mentioned.

Home Alone

We can agree to this point that Home Alone is the best holiday movie if there any was made. The movie is about how a little boy is, accidentally, left home by a family rushing to their holidays.

Baby’s Day Out

Another daytime movie, comedy, fun, cute even, all in all, fun overloaded.

Stuart Little

Let’s face it this is the movie which made us all fall in love with the mice, before that we used to literally hate these rat bastards (pun intended).

Hollow Man

Now that we are talking about the serious stuff, then this movie must be mentioned. The man which disappeared, transparent person, a person which you cannot see if this didn’t tickle your curiosity.

Titanic

If there is any one movie which can be a synonym of New Year in India, Titanic is this movie. This Romantic- Dramatic movie, is the best movie which can happen to the earth.
