Security forces shot dead a Hizbul militant Shabir Ahmad in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
At least three militants were believed to be trapped in a residential area. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Babgund in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
According to sources, a top Hizbul commander Zahoor Thoker managed to flee. Earlier, it was reported that Zahoor Thokar of 173 Territorial Army had joined Hizbul Mujahideen.
Thoker is one of the most wanted militants in Kashmir.
