Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau now has become the first western leader to confirm his country’s intelligence officials have listened to the recordings of the killings of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
“Canada’s intelligence agencies have been working very closely on this issue with Turkish intelligence and Canada has been fully briefed on what Turkey had to share,” Trudeau said.
The PM added that he has not heard the recordings himself.
Khashoggi, a prominent Saudi critic was killed last month after he was last seen entering a Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
After weeks of denial, the Saudi govt. has admitted that its agents murdered the journalist in pre-meditated operation and has detained 18 suspects.
Khashoggi’s body has not been found.
Exactly how the international community could hold Saudi Arabia accountable for killing is not clear.
