A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab with the representatives of Political Parties regarding the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Rolls w.r.t. as 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.

It was emphasized that as per the schedule of Election Commission of India (ECI), the draft Electoral Roll shall be published by 16.11.2020 and shall also be made available at the website of the CEO, Punjab (htttp://ceopunjab.nic.in).

Representatives of political parties were apprised that claims and objections in form 6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A can be filed with the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) from 16.11.2020 to 15.12.2020 by anyone who has attained the age of 18 as on 01.01.2021. It was also emphasized that in the wake of prevailing pandemic situation, citizens should be encouraged to file claim and objections online through the portal http://voterportal.eci.gov.in.
It was underlined that special camps shall be organized at booth level across the State of Punjab on 21st, 22nd November and 5th, 6th December, 2020 to give last opportunity to the un-enrolled eligible citizens to register herself/himself as voter. Emphasis shall be given on special categories Persons with Disability (PwDs), Transgenders, Migrant Workers, Young Voters (18-19 years old), Overseas electors.
CEO, Punjab highlighted the importance of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and asked the representatives of Political Parties to consider to appoint BLAs and depute them to assist the BLOs for the special summary revision campaign. Booth Level Officer (BLOs) shall be present at every booth to facilitate. On Saturday-Sunday 22-23 Nov and 5-6 Dec, these special camps shall be held at the polling stations from 10 am to 5pm.
Dr. Raju also mentioned that the office of CEO, Punjab and the political parties are partners and their close collaboration and cooperation would make the elections in Punjab more spirited and as per the ECI guidelines.
Besides CEO Dr. Raju, present in meeting were Smt. Madhvi Kataria, IAS, Additional CEO, Punjab and representatives of all the major political parties of Punjab namely Indian National Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, Aam Aadmi Party, Bhartiya Janta Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Nationalist Congress Party. Representatives gave their valuable suggestions especially for enrolling new young voters, NRI voters and assured to work closely with the office of CEO, Punjab in their endeavors.
