Another accident took place since the Aero India 2019 event has started.
Few weeks before, two jets of the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team crashed after a mid-air collision over the air base and one of the three pilots in the crash died.
Massive fires spread across a parking lot near the Yelahanka Air Base in north Bengaluru where hundred aircraft were parked for the biennial Aero India 2019 event.
Karnataka Fire Department controlled the fire by creating a gap between the adjacent cars as nearly 300 cars got burnt because of the mishap.
Officials say, “Aided by the strong winds, the fire likely started on dry grass and spread quickly. The origin of the fire could be a lit disposed cigarette in the open field.”
The smoke in the air forced a suspension of any display and no planes took off from the airbase till the fire was completely doused.
