Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will distribute prizes worth Rs. 6 Crore to winners

Chandigarh : The closing ceremony of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Deyan-2022’ would be held at Ludhiana on 1st November on Punjab Day, in which cash prizes worth Rs. 6 Crore will be given to the winners.

Addressing a meeting of the Sports Department at Punjab Bhavan here today, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the closing ceremony of the ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Deyan-2022’, which started with a colorful opening ceremony on August 29 on National Sports Day, will be held on November 1 on Punjab Day at Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana. The Chief Minister asked the Sports Department to complete all the arrangements for the state level competitions and the closing ceremony with directions that the sportsmen should not face any kind of difficulty.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that a function would be held soon to give cash prizes to the medal winners of the 36th National Games in Gujarat. Apart from this, it must be ensured that the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award given to the sportsmen of the state is held every year. “Punjab has a rich tradition in sports and no effort should be left to restore the lost glory of the state in sports”, said the Chief Minister.

On this occasion, Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer briefed the Chief Minister that after the success of block and district level sports competitions, 29 state level sports competitions would be conducted from October 14 to 28 at different 9 places. The winners of the state level competition will be awarded with a total cash amount of Rs.6 Crore.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary Sports Raj Kamal Chaudhary and Director Sports Rajesh Dhiman were also present.
