SAYS LUDHIANA POLICE PERFORMING SECURITY DUTY ALONG WITH MULTITASKING

URGES RESIDENTS FOR SUPPORT; WARNS STRICT ACTION AGAINST VIOLATORS

Ludhiana, May 1: In view of the ongoing curfew/lockdown, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal today interacted with the residents through Facebook live session. He urged the residents to keep supporting the Ludhiana police and warned of strict action against any person who violates the orders/directions of the Punjab government. Today was the fourth Facebook Live session of the Commissioner of Police.

During the session, Mr Agrawal informed that the residents have supported the Ludhiana Police to a large extent, and expects the same in future as well. He said that because this disease is very deadly and spreads when we fail to maintain social distancing and that is why, the Punjab government has decided to extend curfew/lockdown till May 17, 2020. He warned that the Ludhiana Police would now enforce this curfew/lockdown strictly.

He informed that to keep a close watch on the activities of residents, the police is also taking help of 15 drone cameras, along with 112 PCR motorcycles and 34 Tavera vehicles. He informed that till date, the police has registered 360 FIRs, more than 16000 persons were lodged in open jails, more than 1160 vehicles have been impounded, that would be released on the completion of the lockdown/curfew. While sharing the phone numbers of Police Control Room, he appealed to the residents to share their problems with the police 24X7. He said that every official and officer of Ludhiana Police is working continuously without any leave for 16 hours daily.

He shared happily that along with providing security to the residents, the Ludhiana police is multitasking these days, which includes distribution of langar, helping the patients as well as the needy persons. He said that the police is at the forefront along with the health department in fight against COVID 19. He said that even the Punjab Police is providing all possible support to the Police. While addressing the organisations performing langar Sewa, Mr Agrawal assured that the Ludhiana Police would keep supporting them always, but necessary permission is required for every work.

He informed that more than 2000 volunteers are supporting the Ludhiana Police in maintaining curfew/lockdown in the city and if any person or organisation wants to join the Ludhiana police, they can contact them through Facebook.

Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal said that the best way to save ourselves from COVID 19 is that we stay indoors and follow all directions of the Punjab government. He said that the Ludhiana Police does not want to harass or arrest any person, but peoples support is required in the fight against COVID 19. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Deepak Pareek was also present on the occasion.
