CHANDIGARH – Punjab Congress  took a dig at the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s tour of southern states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana where he invited industrialists to invest in Punjab, when industrialists from his own state were exploring outside options owing to the deteriorating law and order situation here (Punjab)

The party referred to a meeting of some leading Punjab industrialists, mainly from Ludhiana, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath seeking investment opportunities in that state as they were worried over the worsening law and order situation in Punjab.

PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said, this was the most unfortunate thing to happen with Punjab that the industry had started exploring options outside the state and that too because of the deteriorating law and order.

He said, the Congress has consistently been warning the state government over the law order situation, which was deteriorating at an alarming rate, but the government has remained unconcerned and unmoved.

Warring pointed out, recently there were reports of a businessman having locked down his family and stopped his children from going to school as he was getting ransom calls. Similarly another trader was shot dead in Nakodar after he did not pay ransom money. In another case a youth was shot dead as his family could not pay Rs 30 lakhs as ransom.

“We do not want to make any political capital out of the situation as it is our duty and responsibility to shake the government out of its slumber”, the PCC president said, while asserting that the state government cannot escape its responsibility and be dismissive about such reports. “Act now, lest it gets too late if it is not already so”, he cautioned the government.
