Chandigarh : The information and Public Relations Department, Punjab today organized a training session for its officers for improving their skill of using Facebook to use this social media platform for disseminating information quickly. Mr. Nitin Saluja, Facebook Policy Programs Manager for India, South & Central Asia provided this training.
A two and half hour long training session was organized by the department in collaboration with Facebook here at the Punjab Bhawan to provide technical know-how required for using this platform to effectively communicate with the people. Mr. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Special Principal Secretary to CM-cum-Secretary, Information and Public Relations and Mrs. Anindita Mitra, Director, Information and Public Relations also attended this session.
A number of officers from other departments of Punjab Government, who are handing this platform for their respective department also attended this training session.
During the training session, Mr. Nitin Saluja gave an elaborated presentation on setting up and operating Facebook Pages. He gave a number of tips to create interesting posts and increasing the reach of a facebook page besides giving valuable suggestion regarding the security of the page. The Public Relations Officers, who were already using this social media platform for more than two years, raised a number of queries during question and answer session to which Mr. Nitin Saluja replied patiently and provided solution for their problems.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Information and Public relations department, Punjab has already setup social media platforms like Facebook Pages, twitter handles, YouTube Channel at state and district level to disseminate the information regarding programs, policies and achievements of Punjab Government.
