Chandigarh : The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to providing basic facilities to the people of the state. Taking a step forward in this direction, Local Government Minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar directed officials to ensure that all contracts must include a condition to maintain the project for five years.

The contractors, who are awarded  projects will be held responsible for the repair and maintenance of the said projects. Dr Nijjar was reviewing the ongoing work of the department where he directed the officials to ensure that  pending matters must be resolved at the earliest in a time bound manner.

While evaluating the performance of the Local Government Department, Dr.Nijjar instructed the officials to ensure proper cleaning of cities. The illegal constructions must be stopped at all cost. He said that no relaxation will be given in any illegal activities. He also emphasized for better water supply and sewage system so that  citizens of the state could enjoyed better facilities.

Dr. Nijjar also instructed the officers to deal with the increasing garbage problems in urban areas in a scientific manner. He also ordered to resolve the pending cases and complaints immediately. The Minister said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. No employee will be spared, involving in illegal activities . To provide the corruption-free system is the top priority of the Punjab government, he added.

On this occasion, Vivek Pratap Singh, Principal Secretary, Local Government, Puneet Goyal, Director, Local Government, Varinder Singh, CEO, PWSSB and other officials were present.
