Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued 2,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence in a Canadian Experience Class-specific Express Entry round held on September 1.

The Comprehensive Ranking System score of the lowest-ranked invited candidate was 521. Candidates had to be eligible under the Canadian Experience Class and satisfy the applicable tie-breaking requirements.

The Canadian Experience Class is primarily intended for skilled workers who have accumulated qualifying Canadian work experience. Receiving an invitation does not automatically guarantee permanent residence; candidates must submit a complete application and demonstrate that they continue to meet all program requirements.

Why it matters: The round creates a new pathway to permanent residence for 2,000 candidates who have already obtained eligible professional experience in Canada.
