Chandigarh, April 27: Exhorting the farmers to refrain from stubble burning, KS Pannu Director Tandrust Punjab Mission said that although a complete ban on burning of wheat stubble in the State has been imposed by the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Punjab and orders have been passed under Section 144 of the CRPC for the same yet some farmers ignoring the consequences, tend to burn the stubble.

Issuing a word of caution he said that with the outbreak of Corona Virus in Punjab, which also attacks the human respiratory system, in such a scenario, stubble burning can have far reaching adverse repercussions. So, in order to protect the health of the people of Punjab, it is imperative that air pollution be completely controlled so that the impact of the disease can be minimized.  In addition to this, it is the responsibility of all to keep the environment clean so that people can stay healthy while breathing clean air.

 Thereby, keeping the public health in view, he made an appeal to farmers that during the campaign against corona virus in the districts, efforts should be made to restrain from burning wheat stubble.
