-Prompt action by District Administration results in fire control within few hours, No loss of human life
“A fire incident at village mullanpur took place yesterday afternoon but the prompt and speedy action taken by the District Administration resulted in the fire being brought under control within a few hours.”
Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said that the huge growth of the sarkanda grass on the outskirts of the village and near the IAS/PCS Society caught fire. He further elaborated that the grass couldn’t be cut because of a court case going on between the gram panchayat mullanpur and the village residents.
He also divulged that the sarkanda grass is spread over 200 acres and out of this 20 acres got burnt. But there was no loss of life.
The water tanker of the forest department arrived immediately alongwith 50-60 labourers, Beldars, Range Officer Baljinder Singh and DFO Guraman Singh. But due to strong wind blowing, 2 fire tenders, one from MC Kharar and another from Mohali had to be pressed into service. The cause of the fire is being ascertained.
