Thomas-Kurian

After being pushed for three years to pull alongside with market leaders Microsoft Corporation and Amazon.com Inc., Google Cloud Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Diane Greene will stand down from her post and former Oracle Corp. executive Thomas Kurian will be her successor.

63-year-old Greene will be the CEO till January, working along with Kurian.

In a blog post, Greene said that she will stay as a board Member of Alphabet.

After working at the world’s second largest software maker, Oracle, Kurian will join the Alphabet Inc. unit on 26th of November.

During Greene’s tenure at one of the internet giant’s central units, she expanded the business rapidly, hired a major new sales division and invested hundreds of millions of dollars in undersea cables and data centers.

Yet, analysts see Google Cloud as a distant third to Microsoft and Amazon in the U.S. in the market for storing data and running apps in the cloud.
