Shaking the Pacific coast with strong winds, heavy rain as Hurricane Willa broke aground in western Mexico on Tuesday.
The forecasters’ warned about that the surging of “extremely dangerous” storm.
Taking to Twitter, Mexico’s National Meteorological Service wrote, “The eye of Hurricane Willa is now over the coastline near the town of Escuinapa, Sinaloa state.”
With a maximum Category 5 hurricane on Monday, the storm weakened to Category 3 when it started to move on the way to land.
Firstly, Hurricane Willa moved over the Marias islands, where a federal prison of Mexico is there.
Asking about the evacuation of 1,000 inmates residing there or any emergency measures in place for the penal colony, the interior ministry did not reply to any of the questions.
While at a press conference, Luis Felipe Puente, head of Mexico’s emergency services, said, “So far, we do not have any reports of damages there.”
Adding further he said that over 4,250 people were moved out from the high-risk areas, as well as tourists who were on vacation at the beach.
