Washington: Donald Trump, the President of United States has appointed an Indian-American Neil Chatterjee as the chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
FERC is an agency charged with the supervision of power grid of America and deciding on multibillion-dollar energy projects.
In a statement by White House, it said, “Trump designates Neil Chatterjee to be Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.”
Currently, Neil Chatterjee is one of the three commissioners of FERC and would replace Kevin McIntyre.
This is the second time that Neil has been appointed as the chairman of FERC.
Briefly, Neil served as the FERC chairman from 10th August 2017 to 7th December, when Kevin McIntyre became its head.
He worked for the US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for eight years before Trump nominated him for the FERC.
