Fraudsters allegedly using fingerprints and facial scans for loans, bank accounts and financial transactions
The Consulate General of India in Dubai has warned Indians in the UAE against unauthorised agents seeking passports, Emirates IDs, fingerprints, facial scans or other biometric information. The consulate said fraudsters posing as agents offering help with visa regularisation, exit permits, Emergency Certificates or jobs may misuse the data to open bank accounts, obtain loans or credit cards and carry out financial transactions. Victims can later face debts, fines, travel restrictions or even legal trouble. Indians have been advised to provide biometrics only at authorised UAE government facilities and to verify anyone claiming to represent Indian diplomatic missions.
