Mumbai: Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla’s father Pramod Kumar Chawla died on Monday of covid-19 disease. He was about 60 years old. “We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved father Pramod Kumar Chawla passed away on May 10, 2021,” Chawla wrote on his Instagram. He was struggling with Covid and the complications that followed. May God grant peace to their souls. Chawla’s IPL team Mumbai Indians also expressed grief.

The Mumbai Indians tweeted, “Our condolences to Piyush Chawla whose father Pramod Kumar Chawla passed away this morning. We are with you and your family in this difficult time. May God give you the strength to endure this suffering. Chawla, 32, has played three Tests, 25 ODIs and seven T20I matches for India. He now captains Gujarat at home. He has taken 445 wickets in 136 first-class matches.
