An Indian-origin woman, Anmoljit Ghuman from South Auckland is all set to create her mark in Parliament next year.
18-year old Anmoljit has been elected as a Youth MP for the Papakura electorate at Youth Parliament in 2019.
Anmoljit was appointed by Papakura MP Judith Collins as her delegate who will be tenured from 1st March 1 until 31st August.
Collins says Ghuman is an “impressive young woman who stood out from other candidates in the selection process.”
13 students were appointed as a United Nations High School Ambassador this year.
“I don’t quite know what to expect as a Youth MP but as I’m learning more about the role I’m excited about the opportunities,” Ghuman said.
Amnoljit shifted from Punjab to New Zealand at the age of one and a half. Her family background is from Moga district of Punjab.
In addition, she plans to study law and commerce degree at the University of Auckland next year.
In July, the Amnoljit of Rosehill College will get the chance to meet 119 other Youth MPs.
