Taking a trivial action against the Deputy Superintendent of the Central Jail, Ferozpur, the Jail Department of Punjab has demoted him from Grade-1 to Grade-2 DSP.
Dalbir Singh Teji the alleged guilty party has been found, for the negligence of duty only.
Elaborating about the incident, a spokesman of Jail Department of Punjab stated that when Dalbir Singh Teji was deputed at Central Jail, Hoshiarpur, an STF discovered the amount of 50000 rupees and some material from the family of some prisoner.
The guilty family also claimed that the jailbird was to be handed over the said material, after giving the 50000 as a bribe to the superintendent.
On the other hand following the orders of the ADGP (Jails), the DIG (Jails) S.S. Saini carried out an enquiry which further threw light on the fact that the convict was too not lodged in the high-security zone, thanks to which Dalbir Singh Teji (superintendent) was chargesheeted as well.
The Spokesman said that the suggestion to demote Dalbir Singh from Grade-1 to 2 was sent to the Punjab Public Service Commission to which the latter accorded its approval.
