Manipur government has appointed weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who won the silver medal in women’s 49kg event at Tokyo Olympics, as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in the state police department.

Chanu is currently employed with Indian Railways as a Ticket Collector. Notably, she is the first weightlifter from India to win a silver medal in Olympics history.
